    MGK is back this fall

Get ready, Katarokwi/Kingston! MGK returns on September 19, 2026.

A new era of the crown is here. An era that is joyfully camp, community-driven, and rooted in celebrating drag as both art and leadership.

Whether you’ve been on stage for years or you’ve been dreaming about your first big moment… this is your sign.

    What MGK is all about

MGK is more than a pageant, it’s:

    • A platform for community leadership and advocacy
    • A celebration of diverse drag artistry
    • A space that values mentorship, growth, and connection over competition

There is no one way to do drag here. Contestants are encouraged to show up as their authentic selves and share what makes their artistry unique.

What you’ll be bringing to the stage

MGK highlights a range of skills that reflect both artistry and presence, including:

    • Fashion / Presentation – define your aesthetic and show us your perspective
    • Introduction – tell your story and why you do drag
    • Talent – perform your art your way (lip sync, live vocals, comedy, dance, and more)
    • Q&A / Interview – speak to community, leadership, and your voice as an artist

It’s about creative expression, connection, and impact — not just perfection.

    Who can compete?

MGK is proudly inclusive and not gender-restrictive.

The stage is open to drag artists:

    • of all gender identities and styles
    • at any experience level
    • with a connection to the Katarokwi/Kingston drag community

If you care about community, creativity, and showing up with heart — you belong here.

    Not quite time… but soon

Applications are not open yet — but they’re coming soon.

    Now’s your moment to:

  • The MGK Pageant Returns (Miss Gay Kingston)

The MGK Pageant Returns (Miss Gay Kingston)

After time away, the pageant is back this fall 2026—and evolving.

MGK (Miss Gay Kingston) is the next evolution of the Miss Gay Kingston pageant.

The Miss Gay Kingston pageant has long been an important part of Kingston’s drag and 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Built on years of artistry, excellence, and community connection, this legacy continues to inspire performers and audiences alike.

As we look to the future, we are proud to share an update on how the pageant will move forward.

    Introducing the MGK Pageant

To ensure the pageant is as welcoming and inclusive as possible for all artists, the pageant will now be branded as the MGK Pageant.

This change reflects our commitment to creating a space that celebrates gender diversity in drag and performance, while continuing to honour the incredible history of the Miss Gay Kingston system.

    • MGK stands for Miss Gay Kingston and remains rooted in its legacy
    • The official title will be “MGK”
    • The crowned titleholder may choose to use MGK or Miss Gay Kingston, depending on what best reflects their identity and artistry

    Honouring Our Legacy

This is not a departure from Miss Gay Kingston—it is an evolution.

The legacy, impact, and history of Miss Gay Kingston remain at the heart of the pageant. Generations of performers have built this title into what it is today, and that foundation continues to guide us forward.

    Looking Ahead

The return of the pageant marks an exciting new chapter. With a renewed focus on inclusion, representation, and excellence in drag, we are excited to welcome a new generation of artists to the stage.

Stay tuned for upcoming announcements, including dates, application details, and opportunities to get involved.

We can’t wait to celebrate the return of MGK with you on Saturday, September 19, 2026! More details to be announced as they develop.
